Description:

Under the supervision of the Team Lead, the Architectural Technologist must prepare plans and specifications in compliance with applicable laws, standards, and the relevant Building Code. They must have an excellent knowledge of building systems, materials, and details. The Architectural Technologist may be called upon to assist junior members of the team by answering technical questions. Extensive knowledge of Canadian construction methods and materials will be required. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections and surveys to determine site conditions.
• Prepare plans and technical construction details.
• Write reports and official documents.
• Check laws, standards, and codes.
• Provide cost estimates.
• Communicate with the client and carious stakeholders and attend meetings.
• Provide administrative support to the Project Lead.
• Provide technical support to the less experiences members of the team.
• May be called to do project management, depending on the circumstances.

Requirements:

• Language/Communication
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken is required. Fluency in French, both written and spoken is an asset but not required.
• Programs
• In-depth understanding of AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, MS Office Suite, and Adobe Suite will be an asset.
• Codes and Regulations
• Must have control of current and relevant codes and regulations (QBC, OBC, NBC, municipal by-laws). Understanding these codes is important as they must be applied to every project this individual will be working on.
• Professional Order Membership
• Having a membership or being interested in a membership with OTPQ, OACETT, OAAAS, etc. is an asset but not required.
• Driving license (Class 5)
• This individual may be required to conduct site visits and must be able to travel with no restriction. Access to a vehicle is an asset but not required.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• This individual may have contact with clients and must be able to uphold the highest customer service standard throughout the project.
• Organization and Time Management Skills
  • This individual must have the ability to work on multiple projects at one time and keep everything organized while still maintaining a high level of efficiency.
• Demonstrate pedagogy and patience.

Education:

College diploma or university degree in architecture,

Experience:

• 3+ years experience in an architecture firm.
• Experience in project administration an asset, including estimation, opening of file, procurement, and construction contract administration.

Added Bonuses:

• Full time, permanent, 40h/week.
• Salary: $50,000 - $80,000
• Probationary period of 3 months.
